Yoga classes in Mid Buckinghamshire & Online
Over 6,500 classes taught

About Me

As well as teaching yoga I have also been a professional hedgelayer for over 30 years, hence the mountain of logs in the picture.

I have been practising yoga since 1995 and have taught over 6,500 yoga classes including 500 online classes since starting teaching in 2002 when I taught yoga for Adult Learning for over 11 years. I have students who have recently joined my classes as well as those who have been with me for many years. I endeavour to address all students by name and to be as aware as I can of both health and any other issues they may have.

An independent review of one of my leisure centre classes was carried out without my knowledge by the consumer research company Pro Insight in the summer of 2018. To view their report click here.

I currently teach four face-to-face classes, one 1:1 class and one online group class over Zoom weekly.

Although I teach predominantly mixed ability yoga classes, I have also taught yoga to adults with learning difficulties and also classes with an emphasis on mental health and wellbeing.

I have worked with students with back issues, hip/knee/shoulder issues/replacements, arthritis, stress, anxiety, depression, asthma and osteoporosis.
I have the Yoga for Health Foundation General Training Scheme and Remedial Training Scheme certificates. I have studied with teachers from many different yoga traditions and these diverse influences colour my own teaching.

I was a Trustee of the Yoga for Health and Education Trust (YHET) from almost 10 years and continue to be a YHET member. The YHET strapline is "Yoga for All" and they work with both the "fit and well" and those with health issues.

My Approach

Students are encouraged to work intuitively, at their own pace, within their own body limits and to develop the awareness to facilitate this with an emphasis on breath awareness throughout.

Whilst there are some postures and stretches that we do regularly, classes also feature a wide range of postures and variations.

Alternative postures and variations are offered to suit different levels of ability and students are also free to do their own thing. I make considerable use of sequence work, teaching a wide range of sequences for various ability levels.

I believe that as well as being beneficial for mind, body and spirit, yoga should also be enjoyable. I encourage students to consider the wider applicability of their yoga practice in their daily lives and the relevance of the philosophical underpinning of yoga provided by the Yamas and Niyamas.

Affordable and Accessible

It's not always easy to attend class at the same time on the same day each week. So with my classes you don't have to; after a free trial class you can buy a fixed block of five consecutive classes for £30 online/£40 face to face or a variable block of five classes over 10 weeks for £40 online or £50 face to face. Each time payment becomes due you can switch between block types. In addition, provided there is capacity you can attend a class other than your regular class should you need to.

New online students get free 1:1 setup and 1:1 assessment sessions and all my current and former students get their first online class free.
